Cornrows
A hair pull test shows fragmented hairs of varying lengths.
Challenge: What is the cause of this patient's hair loss?
yep traction! tinea is definitely on the ddx for this age group but the distribution is better for traction alopecia. - Cornrows
This is traction alopecia (or traumatic alopecia), a form of nonscarring hair loss due to styling techniques that apply a chronic mechanical tension. It is generally reversible.
