Challenge: What do you see here in this CT scan taken during cardiac diastole?
This is an intra-aortic balloon pump. Panel A is a sagittal plane showing the balloon inflated with air (arrowheads) during diastole. The arrow shows the metallic tip below the aortic arch (asterisk). Panel B is an axial scan showing the distended balloon (arrowhead) within the abdominal aorta.
