Twin pregnancies are shown here. In the first image, the arrow indicates a thick intertwin membrane characteristic of a dichorionic twin pregnancy in the first trimester; A and B refer to each twin sac. In the second image, the arrow indicates a triangular projection of chorionic tissue emanating from fused dichorionic placentas; this is the twin peak or lambda sign of a dichorionic diamniotic pregnancy.
